Would be nice if you could close it
I enjoyed using this grill over Father's day and thought it was great. I then tried to move it, however, and found that I can not latch the lid closed if the grates are in the stove, so I have to remove the grates each time I want to move or store the grill. This was a pain while camping since the grates were a mess, and I did not want to take them out until I got home (or pack them in the car while they were greasy).

My friend's LXE does not have this problem, but when I called Coleman, they informed me that this is as designed, and it should not latch if the grates are in place.

Versatile grill delivers
I hesitated in buying this grill due to some of the negative reviews here and elsewhere. I was considering the highly rated Weber Q series but chose the Coleman for several reasons: liked having two independent burners, the larger grilling area, the Coleman already comes with a built-in stand, and the Coleman can use standard, easy-to-find 16.4 oz propane fuel. I have not been disappointed.

I bought the Special Edition model which comes with BBQ tools, thermostat and a griddle. After using it for 3 weeks, my family and I are very impressed. It cooks food quickly and evenly. I also bought the stove grate for heating water, soups, and sauces, etc. Everything works great!

I have cooked with the cover down for short bursts of time and the handle hasn't melted. Other than keeping dust and dirt out during storage, not sure why Coleman added a cover when you're not supposed to grill with the cover down.

Like others have recommended here, I line the base of the grill and drip pan with foil to help in the clean-up. I also spray the grates with no-stick grill spray. Clean-up still requires some elbow grease (the only reason I'm giving this grill a 4 -- I'd actually give it 4-1/2 if Amazon had that option).

Many Uses and Cheaper Accessories
We purchased this grill as a gift for my husband. He was looking for a smaller grill as we have a large one already. This is perfect! Not only was it the right size but it's portability made it even better. We also purchased the Coleman RoadTrip® Cast-Iron Griddle which is great to cook fish, steak and cheese, grilled cheese, or anything that might fall through the regular grill.
As we were planning to leave this standing much of the time near our pool the bag for it was unnecessary. The cover offered on here would have worked, but was a bit pricey. Instead we found that a simple kettle grill cover from Wal-Mart for under $10 fits PERFECTLY! We also found it much more economical to purchase a hose w/ fittings from Lowes and connect the grill directly to a large propane tank. No need to worry about smaller tanks running out if you're going to use it in one place much.
Having used the grill several times now we are completely sold. As for a small portable gas grill it is perfect since it stands up, not table top. Also the gril rarely flames up and the grill plates wash excellently, even in the dishwasher.
We highly recommend!

Great Grill
We purchased this grill for camping, and it is great. It's easy to assemble out of the box, and easy to open and pack up on the road. Cooks great too!

What's Cooking or should I say "Grilling"
We love this grill! We bought it to take with us in our new travel trailer! It is compact and takes little effort to set up or take down. The wheels make it easy to transport back & forth! The clean up is a breeze, the grates remove for easy wipe up! We also purchased the griddles that go with the road trip and love those too! It makes grilling easy and fast!
