Nice little grill
i used this grill last weekend for end of summer bbq. it took me (an
engineer) 40 min to assemble the pieces. only the stand requires assembly.
the grill came preassembled.

attaching the tank to the grill and operating the grill are straight
forward. the grill heats up quickly and looks nice. i was able to feed 10
adults using it. i highly recommend this grill. one should also consider
getting the fry pan to make better use of the grill.

Excellent no-frills grill, great price.
Simply stated, I have 2 requirements for my grills:
1. Powerful enough to sear steaks
2. Consistent, even heat across the cooking surface (i.e. no "hot spots" or "cool spots")
My past couple of grills failed at one or both of these, and I had resigned myself to the thought that in order to find a grill that met these two requirements, I would have to start looking in the $600+ price range. Luckily, a friend of mine bought this "Q" grill and let me play with it for a weekend. I was sold and bought one that week. I am extremely happy to report that the Weber Q easily satisfys both of my requirements for less than $300. The grill is surprisingly powerful...it's only 21,000 BTU's, but it is incredibly efficient and generates more heat than my last grill (which was 32,000 BTU's). The cooking surface grates are HEAVY cast iron, and absorb a lot of heat...this translates into great searing and grill marks on meat (by far the best of any grill I've owned). Two other great design features: the grate spacing is small enough so one can grill vegetables directly on the grill and not worry about them falling through (no basket needed--this is awesome). Also, the grates are designed to shield the burner tubes so no drippings actually hit the burners (practical for cleaning and prevents flare ups).
As far as the consistency of the heat...it can't be beat. I've tried cooking steaks all over the cooking surface...at the edges, corners, and right in the middle. The heat is amazingly even, and food cooks up great no matter where it is positioned on the cooking surface. I cannot tell you how much fun I am having with this grill...it is the best grill I've owned, and its ease of use has me looking forward to grilling dinner every single night.
On the down side, it lacks some if the bells and whistles of more expensive models (i.e. rotisserie, side burner, bread warming rack). This doesn't bother me however, because the grill makes up for it: (i) with the even heat, it is pretty easy to figure out when to throw bread directly on the grill in the last minute of grilling and have it come out perfectly toasted (ii) with the ability to cook with indirect, convective heat (very awesome, by the way, for ribs), one can cook a chicken perfectly without having to spin it on a spit. The only thing this grill can't repicate is the side burner, but I never used that feature of past grills anyway.
I could not be happier with this grill, I think it is a great value, and it has put the fun back into grilling for me!

Oh Yeah
I've had a lot of grills and this one utilizes the best aspects of newer technologies: It light for a grill, heats up to 600 degrees fast, and cleans up easily. It's easy to assemble and the side tables go up and down easily. The optional cover is top quality too. The igniter doesn't work on mine but none of them do. It lights very easily with a match. We replaced a much more expensive grill with this and my wife prefers this one and that's all that matters. Oops! the igniter does work. So it's perfect, and I highly reccomend it.

The thinking man's BBQ
Billed as the BBQ for small families or use on a porch, this turns out to be a very capable and quite large surface area BBQ that is superbly engineered and constructed of first-quality materials, especially the porcelain-coated and beefily-solid grill plates. The burners are stainless steel, and they light up easily with the push-button igniter, although I found that it is useful to wait a few seconds after turning on the burners before pushing the igniter button. In a little over 5 minutes, the inside temperature reaches 600ºF. The cart, though made of some kind of reinforced resin, is very sturdy, and the bolts that hold everything together fit into specially threaded brass inserts in the frame. The alignment is precise, making assembly a snap. The arrangement for securing the propane tank is ingenious, something that Weber fails to mention in its ads, and this had left me wondering, as my last BBQ's support for the tank was precarious, and we had to tie it down with rope! The temperature gauge is easily removed for replacement, if and when necessary, a feature that you will not find in just any old BBQ. The slide-out holder for the replaceable aluminum drip pans is another innovation that is much to be appreciated by those of us who had to suspend tin cans from coat hanger wires after the original drip catchers rusted away on their previous BBQs. For sure, if you intend to use this in an uncovered location, the sturdy and well-fitting cover should be a MUST-ORDER along with this wonderful mighty-mite of a BBQ.

Great grill. Took a bit of time to get used to using it.
At first I used to burn everything as it's different from my old traditional grill. It took me a while to get used to how to adjust the burners for hamburgers and hot dogs, but now that I've got it figured out I love this BBQ.
