Weber 586002 Q 320 Gas Grill

The assembly was easy; I did the gas leak test and turned the burners on. I turned to get something, heard a second "Whoosh!" of igniting propane followed by my wife shouting, "Put it out! Put it out!", as she ran out of the yard. Even though there were flames shooting from the burner control knob and the burning plastic shelf was emiting noxious black smoke, I heroically turned off the cannister valve. The fire immediately went out, however "stupidly" may be a better adverb than "heroically".

Turns out there was a huge hole in the gas supply tube exiting the control knob which didn't turn up in the leak test because you aren't supposed to turn on the burners during the test. Amazon graciously accepted my return and my decision to cancel the order. I decided to order the Vermont Castings grill instead.

I liked the Weber grill but thanks to this episode I realized that there is too much plastic used in its construction. I have experienced grease fires using my old grill that could have ended in disaster using the Weber.

This grill has met our needs perfectly. The assembly was so much easier than I thought it would be. The grill itself is already assembled. All I had to do was assemble the base. Took me an hour start to finish. It heats up fast and the grill area is big enough for everything we need. It really has done everything we have asked it to do and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality small grill.

I didn't realize how much difference a good grill makes. I'm very impressed with this grill. It cooks evenly with very little flare ups. It doesn't take up a lot of room. Don't let the fact that the BTU level is lower on this grill then many of the cheap retail store grills fool you, it cooks food better. The 300 series cover I bought fits the 320 series very nicely. I highly recommend this grill!

My husband did not think he wanted a gas grill but has not stopped cooking on it since we have received it. I am enjoying the food tremondously and love him doing the cooking.

This grill is nice and compact, and has interesting modern styling, but also is quite a good performer for grilling. I like that it has controls for both indirect grilling (jets around the outside which heat the whole cooking chamber) as well as direct jets that go right onto the meat. In my experience, most grilling requires some of both, and this grill makes it easy. It seems to have plenty of grilling power, and more than enough space for my family of 5.

I also like the igniter and built in LED light, which both work well.

I did have a problem with the grill when it arrived. One of the main plastic tabs that attaches the grill to the cart was broken in transit. However, I called Weber customer support and they were extremely competent and considerate, and sent me out an entire new upper grill assembly by express shipping to fix it.

The only complaint I have with the grill is that it is a bit awkward to move around. The dual side shelves are nice, but they make it so that there is no really effective handle to hold to roll the grill around when moving it.

But in general, I am quite pleased with this purchase.
